Hey there jaclynfre,
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We're happy to provide some assistance.
Is this a Bluetooth accessory? If so, let's make sure we are following the steps in this article to connect a Bluetooth device to your Mac:
Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac
Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac
Connect your Mac with a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, trackpad, headset, or other audio device.
Make sure the device is turned on and discoverable (see the device’s documentation for details).
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth .
Select the device in the list, then click Connect.
If asked, click Accept (or enter a series of numbers, then press Enter).
If the issue persists, are you able to connect other Bluetooth devices to your Mac? This can help us isolate the problem to the third-party accessory. We can test in safe mode as well to see if there is a possible user account issue:
Start up your Mac in safe mode
Starting up your Mac in safe mode can help you determine whether issues you’re experiencing are caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up. For details about using safe mode on an Intel-based Mac or on a Mac with Apple silicon, see the Apple Support article How to use safe mode on your Mac.
You might want to check with the manufacturer of the device as well to see if there are any software updates needed or if there is a possible compatibility issue.
We hope this helps.
Have a great day!
