iPad Pro is connected to my MacBook Pro via thunderbolt 3 and is not charging

I've tried all 4 ports on my MacBook pro and I'm using the usb-c cord that came with the iPad Pro. It is not charging when connected to my MacBook pro. Help?

Do other things work in those USB ports?
