M1 Mac Mini with Identical 4K displays but different scaling options

I have an M1 Mac Mini that is running two identical LG 4K displays. One is hooked up via USB-C directly to the Mac Mini and the other is hooked up via an HDMI cable directly to the Mac Mini. Neither monitor is run through a dock or hub, even though I have one connected to the second USB-C (Thunderbolt) port.

Under Apple Menu > About this Mac > Displays, both show 4K resolution (3840x2160).

However, when I try to set the scaling under System Preferences > Displays > Display Settings the values or ranges are different. On the USB-C monitor, my scaling options going from "Larger Text" to "More Space" are:

1504 x 846

1920 x 1080

2560 x 1440

3008 x 1692

3840 x 2160

On the HDMI monitor, those options are:

1152 x 648

1504 x 846

1920 x 1080

2560 x 1440

3840 x 2160

I was able to settle on 2560 x 1440 so it's not a huge issue but I can't figure out why the options are different. Does anyone have an ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

Mac mini, macOS 12.3
