Software. Mac App Compressor services can't be started

After the update yesterday to macOS Monterey 12.3.1 we have a problem. Every time I try to start the Compressor App it fails by this: Compressor services can't be started.

SwampConfigUpdater: couldn't create directory "/Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Compressor", error = 13 (Permission denied) Please resolve the issue and relaunch Compressor.

We have tried everything but nothing seems to help. Remove the app, Reinstall etc etc.. Just can’t use Compressor anymore on my Mac pro (end 2013) Any help appreciated.

The folder is on your OS drive like Macintosh HD. In Finder go to Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/ for that drive. Click on add new folder. You may be asked for your Admin or Log In password. Type Compressor to add the new folder in Application Support.

This works! Thank you so much. But you need to find the two Application support folders first.

The place where Compressor kept putting the folder with this name was the wrong Application Support folder.
If you remove the folder named Compressor from:
Users > name > Library > Application Support >
Then the Mac rebuilds a folder there with the name Compressor.
Without creayting a folder in the Storage folder.

1. So you need to remove the old folder named Compressor first. Empty the trash.
2. Then go to Users > Shared > Library > Application Support.
3. Im my case This folder contained only a folder named - Adobe.
Create a new folder called - Compressor

If you then start Compressor everything goes well again and there will be a - Storage folder
in this folder and at > users > > etc. extra folders and also the same - Storage folder.

Had the same error (SwampConfigUpdater: couldn't create directory "/Users/Shared/Library/Application Support", error = 13 (Permission denied) Please resolve the issue and relaunch Compressor.)

...per the above guidance, the following worked for me.

  • Removed the Compressor Application
  • Deleted: Library/Application Support/Compressor
  • Manually created folder: Users/Shared/Library/Application Support
  • Reinstalled Compressor

And, now no errors occur on compressor start-up and am able to compress.

Thank you.

I verified this morning that Compressor is still working and there are two Compressor folders. The folder I deleted has History and other folders. In Finder, use Option Go Library/Application Support/Compressor. This is the folder I deleted and Compressor created a new folder in this location. The Compressor folder I added was in Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Compressor. After opening Compressor, it added a Storage folder.
