iMovie Issue

I edit (add text) to my pictures in the Photo's app and they show the text in the "My Media" window in iMovie. But when I drag them down into the movie line the text is no longer there.

Any idea's where my text from "Photo's" is going when I add it to my iMovie?

@Rich839 .... In the Photo's app at the bottom of the screen (all the color flower looking thing) I select a picture and open it. The I click the "Edit" button in the upper right corner. Then I select "Markup" from the three little dots and add text to the picture. Then I "Save Changes" and click "Done" on the next screen. Then when I open iMovie>My Media>Photos, it shows the edited photo with the text. But when I bring it down to the movie timeline there's no text. It was working great until I opened iMovie yesterday and it seemed to act like it was the first time I opened it with the features screen. But yet my projects loaded. I am attaching a photo where you will see text in the My Media section for a metal grate in a driveway. But when I brought it down you will see that the text is gone.

What procedure did you follow to add text to the picture in the Photos app.? Did you actually embed it in the photo, such as with the Preview app extension? Can you post screen shots of the photo in the media browser and in the timeline that depict what is happening? Is it possible that you have the crop setting Crop to Fill selected and the text is being cropped off?

I'm not able to replicate the issue that you describe. When I add text (embed it) onto a photo in the Photos app, and then import the photo into iMovie, the text displays both in the media browser and in the timeline. The embedded text is part of the photo and carries over.

That's odd. The red arrows don't show up either. I followed the exact procedure that you described and the text shows up in both the media browser and the timeline. Are you certain that you are not by chance dragging the original photo without text into the timeline?

What happens if you click on the project name under Project Media in the side bar, and drag the text photo from the media browser into the timeline? What happens if you export the text photo from the Photos app to your desktop, and from there drag it into the iMovie timeline?

If none of the above work, try deleting preferences and see if that cures the issue. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
