Bypass Apple ID

I work at a University and I am trying to factory reset a MBP 2019. I followed previous instruction to completely erase the drive which should have gotten rid of any Apple ID credentials. The drive has been erased but I still am being asked for a password to the previous Apple ID. I can't do anything with this machine. I can't even get it to boot to the shell.

Hi presidents161,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like Activation Lock is enabled on the Mac you're working on. Activation Lock is used to prevent any unauthorized entry into the Mac.

If you need to request that Activation Lock be removed, you can start the request with Apple Support here: How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support

Start a support request
If you need help removing Activation Lock and have proof of purchase documentation, you can start an Activation Lock support request.

We hope this helps.

Take care!
