One kiddo, one iPad, two separated parents: how?
Last I checked (three years ago?) Apple does not allow two parents to each approve and pay separately for apps so a child can have one Apple ID and one iPad with all their content on it.
Instead, a child of divorced/separated parents has to “choose” one family (as if this isn’t fun enough in the courts) and the parents have to negotiate purchase and reimbursement for desired apps.
Is the only alternative *still* for a child to need two iPads, with different content, with two different apple IDS that requires two family sharing plans (one for each parent)?
If so, one wonders if Apple is aware how stigmatizing this is for a child? Why can’t their digital life serve as a healthy bridge between two separate physical lives? All it would take is to permit TWO parties to approve and pay for purchases.
AND to get around the “I don’t want my kid playing that app with me” for the rare instance, just have a toggle that enables or disables apps when child is with each parent. Could even be automated based on location.
This would go a long way to helping parents and kids in all regards. Maybe this is finally possible now? Or something similar?
