My callers can't hear me when I called using the default Phone application in iPhone 7.

I have an iPhone 7 and when I received a call from someone, they can't hear what I am saying. I thought it was a problem with my microphone but when I am calling using Whatsapp or Skype they can hear me clearly.

I've tried several tricks mentioned on the internet like disabling the noise-canceling feature and recording a voice clip in Voice Memo but the microphone works perfectly. Also, I've reset the device but this issue occurs only for the default Phone app on iPhone.

Even though, I have doubts about the OS. Because there was no such issue before I update my phone to iOS 15. My current OS version is iOS 15.3.1.

Hello milancm_97,

Let's get your iPhone updated to the latest iOS 15.4.1 using the steps below:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 14.8 or iOS 15.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

You can also find those steps here: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

That should help to further isolate a potential software conflict.

Should that behavior still persist, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Contact Apple Support They'd be in the best position to look into this further.

Take care.

If you suspect a corrupt phone app...

Backup, restore to factory, and restore from backup

If you can import your media to Photos or iTunes in a computer and copy important documents to a cloud server it will give you some resilience in case the restore from backup fails, or you need to ditch the backup and start as new.

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

If the problem remains then do step (2) again but set up as new without restoring any backup. You would need to rescue your data from wherever you safeguarded it but you will lose all message history.

If that fixes it then it is probably a rogue setting.

Otherwise arrange a repair
