Apple Music shuffle not working as it should

Recently, when using the Shuffle feature, my downloaded/purchased iTunes songs started playing some songs repeatedly without playing the entire playlist first. This happens on my different devices (iPhone/iPad) so probably an iOS issue. It’s just the odd song but still annoying. One of your recent updates might have caused this. Is there a DIY fix for this or do I have to wait for another update for resolution? Thanks

Hello guyg1964,

When referring to steaming, they mean are the songs stored on your device or are they steaming from a service (over the air)?

Do you find this happens with the same song, or does it appear to be random? Have you checked to see if the songs in question have "Repeat" enabled? How to repeat music on your iPhone – Apple Support

Best wishes.

Hello there guyg1964,

Thanks for posting here on the Apple Support Communities! This is a place where other Apple users can submit questions or respond to others to help lend a hand. Let's take a closer look as we do our best to provide some additional insight.

To get started, are these songs all downloaded to your device, or does it happen with streamed songs as well? Also, how do you usually play the music? For example, are you using Siri, or actually going into the app to play the songs? Does the same thing happen both ways?

If you haven't already be sure to restart your device: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support and ensure you have the latest iOS version installed:

It's obvious apple is aware of the bugs that were introduced with the 15.x update. The iphone will not stay in the shuffle mode or remember that the mode is active. Music tracks will pause randomly requiring you to press play to continue listening. The list goes on. The problem I have is accountability to the customer. You charge what you charge and we pay it. You force us to update in most instances, then you break our expensive device and don't own it. The "ipod" company? Wasn't that about music? You ruined our collective music experience and have not respectfully acknowledged it. Shame. I'm an owner of 5 Macs, 3 ipads, 2 iphones and almost every accessory they make.

Thanks for your reply.

iTunes songs downloaded & synched via iCloud with my iPhone & iPad. Also occurs on my Mazda infotainment system but the source is still the iPhone, can’t blame Mazda there. Not sure what you mean by “streamed songs” unless you’re referring to Apple TV device but I rarely play my Apple Music via that device. I never use Siri to play my songs, I just choose the Shuffle feature & off I go :-)
