this phone will NOT connect to car play on my 2022 Honda CRV with the
cable provided with the new phone...do I need to upgrade the cable in case
an old one was supplied with the new phone or do I need a shorter cable?

If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

I’m having the same issue, I have done everything to fix it but still won’t connect as CarPlay. Only connects as a iPod. Tried on a Toyota Yaris and Haval jolion both don’t work.
