From High Sierra to Monterey (Photos library)

Hi,

I have a request for you. I have an old macbook with os High Sierra and I bought a new imac with os Moterey.

But I have a problem with the photo application. I have a lot of photos / about 1.5 TB / and historically I have albums from iphoto in my photos.

I also bought My Cloud EX2 Ultra with 2x 4TB for the new imac and I connected it via the network. I also uploaded all the files from the macbook to the disc, including the Photos library. Unfortunately, I can't open the library at the imac. Either the opening gets stuck at 87 percent and doesn't move any further, or the opening doesn't even start. I also tried the function to repair the library, which gradually loaded up to 100 percent, but then wrote that it still can't open the library.

Could you please advise me how to open the library in the new imac? Or how to convert it to a working version?

I don't know where to go anymore ..

Thank you very much.

Lukáš

Hi

A network drive is not a compatible location for a photos library. You can only operate a photos library when it is stored on the system drive, or a directly connected (no wifi, no ethernet) USB or Thunderbolt external drive.

You will need to move the library to a compatible location and try to open it from there.

You can't store your library on a storage device used for Time Machine backups. And to avoid possible data loss, don't store your library on a removable storage device, such as an SD card or USB flash drive, or on device shared over your network or the internet, including over a cloud-based storage service.
