iCloud avatar disappears every time I leave the Settings option

Thank you for your response BDAqua, the graphic in my opening post is MacBook Pro 15 2 ~ macOS High Sierra v10.13.6, and the graphic below is iMac 21.5 ~ macOS High Sierra v10.1.6 .........................

The same 'problem' arises on both devices!

I have now reviewed > iCloud > Options > and > iCloud > Settings > via 3 Users, on two devises, BDAqua, and the result is the same. Upon return, the chosen avatar has disappeared from the Settings display, but remains on the Options display!

I am inclined to agree with your opinion therefore DBAqua, that it is down to Apple, and, it is supposed to be that way ................. maybe!

Is there a way of approaching Apple directly, for clarification on this matter?

I have ........................ dropped Apple a wee note BDAqua:

Dear Apple,

if I change my avatar at > iCloud > Settings > it displays at > iCloud > Options > and other locations, E.G. Contacts, so that is just fine.

However, if I log-out from iCloud, and relog-in, to Settings, or even if I simply refresh the Settings display, it has disappeared; although it continues to display at > iCloud > Options > and other locations

Is this what should happen?

Yep, same with me BDAqua, the Options screen appears, and reappears, displaying the Avatar added in Settings,

just fine .............
