I've re-paired the pencil multiple times. It has absolutely no effect. I am able to use my pencil normally across all of my apps - using it for drawing, clicking links, playing games. The only thing not working is the scribble conversion from the handwritten text in a field (I can handwrite the words into a field - I can see the handwritten text, but then my ipad waits, waits, waits, then the handwritten text goes away and no converted text is offered in the filed) .
As in the video - the text is written into the field - I see the text that I wrote - there is a 20-30 second delay - which with IOS 14 would process and then result in the text converted from the handwriting. Ever since the upgrade to 15.x.x (all versions of 15), the conversion process no longer works and my handwritten text goes away and I'm left with an empty text box.
I've tested it in text fields in mail, goodnotes, the search bar, form fields on web sites, etc. It doesn't work anywhere.
I've cleared the cache on my ipad and rebooted, then tested with no apps open. Doesn't work.
I've unpaired and re-paired my pencil after a reset of my ipad. Doesn't work.
:( it's such a bummer - it was a feature that I really valued.
