Ever since upgrading to 10.6 FCPX has been slow to import, not loading waveforms

Is anyone else having problems running 10.6.2 on Monterey? I've Re-imaged the iMac and am running bare bones software.

@turbotbdad - Does FCP have Full Disk Access enabled? Full Disk Access is in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy. If you don't see FCP in the list, add it and make sure it's enabled with a check mark.

Whenever FCP crashes or starts acting strangely an easy thing to try is resetting the preferences. Hold option and command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the preferences back to the way you like them (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.

Have you deleted the render cache? Delete the render cache. Select the library in the browser, choose File->Delete Generated Library Files... Choose All Render files. Manage render files in Final Cut Pro - Apple Support

You're running SoftRAID. Is your media is stored on the device that's SoftRAIDed? Have you tried running a test without the SoftRAID drives attached?

Have you tried creating a new admin user and logging in as that user to run FCP?

Looks to me like it's just a square pixel, 16:9, H.264, 29.97 mp4 @ 1 Mb/sec which should not be taxing in any way. Maybe it's encoded in a strange way by whatever created it. A security camera maybe? Does the problem happen with footage from other sources?

Also, you shouldn't need to Copy to Library on import (unless that's your preferred workflow). Just tick the Leave Files in Place checkbox and the import will be instant since it's not copying anything.

Thank you for your reply. I am not on the fence about updating. I had updated to 10.6 when it first came out and had many issues as I am experiencing now so I re-imaged back to Catalina (not sure which FCPX, 10.5.4?) but it was working great. I missed a lot of the features in Monterey so I figured it must be fixed by now so I updated (clean install back to Moneterey and FCPX 10.6.2 but am experiencing the same issues. I install Davinci Resolve and had my finished project in 20 minutes. Not sure what is going on.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will revisit the full access, as i looked but did not see it listed and did not know that i should add it.( i thought if it needed it,it would prompt me). I am not using the external softraid for anything but storage after the movie has been rendered i save it to that drive. Using internal ssd and samsung external for cache. I did try deleting all and starting new library without result. Oh, and yes, i first started this on the admin account with the same slow downs,

Follow-up to my earlier reply. I did un-install FCPX then downloaded they latest version again. 10.6.2. Gave it full disk access, opened FCPX and gave it a new library, but still slow importing, no waveforms loading, ( I should say it looks like it loads the file very quickly but when trying to edit before bringing into timeline, audio starts then cuts out and I get the beloved beach ball.
