How can I use mid 2014 iMac as monitor for windows PC?

Hi every1

I got another question. How can I use mid 2014 iMac as monitor for windows PC?. I know this maybe complicated. I may need a few difference adaptors to connect together for it to work. Hopefully it will work. Its got these ports in the back, Two Thunderbolt ports

  • Mini DisplayPort output
  • Support for DVI, VGA, and dual-link DVI (adapters sold separately)

The desktop got VGA and DVI ports.

Here is my plan:

Use male to male VGA cable. 1 end connect to the PC, the other end connect to female VGA to male display port. And then that male display port connect to female display port to the male Mini Display port. That male Mini display port connect to the thunderbolt ports. That thunderblot is basically the mini display port. Not sure this will work that is why I'm asking. Thank you!!

No you cannot use a 2014 iMac as an external display for your PC. Please carefully read Target Display Mode (Target Display Mode) and you will see it simply will not work. If the PC needs an external display, please buy one. Also, please remember Macs are computers, they are not external displays for other devices.
