macOS Apple Mail iCloud: xFInity will not send mail from iCloud account

Hello all. I've put up with xFinity cable internet being unable to send email from my iCloud account for a few years now. Workaround: I compose in Mac Mail, hit Delete/Save as Draft and then send the draft from my iPhone which is usually using the same cable WiFi as my Mac.

If I hit Send in Apple Mail I always get the attached. Years back I used to be able to send from Apple's POP server over xFinity. Now it always offers me to alter my SMTP settings which is no help. xFinity Help is no help.

I have two Comcast accounts and this has happened routinely ever since I started using Comcast mail. It always clears itself up in a couple of hours or days.

My experience tells me this is a Comcast problem. Periodically, the password requires re-entering which does not work. But, just wait a while and it clears itself.

In both cases, for years, they've always cleared themselves sooner or later. For this reason, then only reason I keep Comcast is for official notification to my primary Comcast account.

OS version had no bearing on the problem; happened in all we've ever had. Same for for Windows in fact.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I’d never had a problem with Comcast/Apple Mail until I moved to the town next door a few years back. When you say it clears up eventually does that mean I’ll have that dialog box, such as the pic I uploaded here, every few minutes? I can’t any work done in Mail while that’s going on. I will hang in there.

My phone workaround is fine except when I get jammed up with mail.
