As of 4/18/21 I notice that I can no longer hit the escape key to cancel the screenshot after "cmmd + shift + 4" which is very frustrating if the contents changed. Escape key works for everything else. Any solutions or intentional update?
I am using magic keyboard with number pad.

FWIW, the esc key will cancel the cmd shift 4 selection as long as you haven't released the mouse button when making a selection.

Never used the escape key in Screenshots in over 20 yrs(?) So I can not say...
Shift Command 4 you have to drag and by that point you have committed yourself. If you did not drag then cancel by clicking anywhere on the screen will cancel it.
