MACBOOK CANT CHARGE

I have mid 2012 macbook pro 13-inch whenever i try to charge it it doesnt charge the L tip charger has a light on it but when you connect it to the laptop theres no light showing up. tried to connect it in different power outlet but still no light when its connected to my laptop. asking if someone in the forum knows anything about this.
