I have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch, How can I use a Keyboard via a 2.4Ghz USB Dongle

It would be convenient to be able to use my Logitech K400 Keyboard and track pad with my iPad running iPadOS13, is there an adapter which would allow this?

I do have a HooToo Memory stick with both USB and Lightning connectors, if I plugged that in and attached a USB Female adapter to the USB end, could I then use the 2.4Ghz Logitech dongle perhaps??

I had assumed that you were using a USB adapter or hub. If instead, as is perhaps now apparent, you are attempting to use storage device that has both a Lightning and USB connection - then no, it is not suitable.

You may find that the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter remains a useful investment, as it allows connection of many types of USB device to your iPad - such as storage devices, USB keyboard and/or mouse, a camera for direct transfer of photos, etc. - and allows simultaneous connection of the iPad Power Adapter. It’s a versatile adapter that solves many problems.

In theory, assuming the USB WiFi dongle declares its device type as a standard USB keyboard, you should be able to use a Lightning to USB Adapter to connect with your iPad. In this configuration the basic keyboard keys will be usable. If the dongle requires installation of custom driver software, the keyboard will not be usable.

The Apple USB3 Camera Adapter provides an additional connection for power - which, due to your iPad’s limited capacity to provide power to external device, may be needed to provide sufficient power for the USB WiFi dongle.

Other third-party Lightning to USB adapters might be usable in this configuration, but lacking a power connection, may be equally unable to power the dongle.

Ouch!

Thanks for that but the price of the adapter exceeds the cost of a new BT Keyboard so in a real world situation it's a non starter!

I accept that it can do more than just allow Use of the Keyboard but since I already have the ability to transfer Photos from my camera to my Phone, PC and iPad using the HooToo, I really could not countenance the cost of this adapter.

Thanks again for your helpful reply.

I'm tempted to try using it via the HooToo despite knowing that it is not intended for that purpose, it's just a flash drive with two connectors after all, so why should it work!

What scares me it if my iPad goes Boom in the process; I think I'll pass! :D

I was just wanting to be able to have something more ergonomically comfortable whilst on the move without having to spend much or carry around more kit!

I bought this for my Phone and TV Box a while ago as they're both Android based.

Thanks for the warning, probably saved my HooToo's life!

I thought I was maybe being a little fanciful in thinking it might suffice!

Better not to try it.

Wisdom accepted, regarding the Camera Adapter but as a committed PC/Android user, I don't use my iPad as my primary device.

If I think about it too much, I'll find more reasons to sell it than to keep it as it becomes ever more isolated.

The only saving grace is that the screen is a decent size and comfortable for reading when travelling.
