Apple Watch dismiss button doesn’t work when a text message pops up

Has anyone figured out how to fix the Dismiss button on the Apple Watch? I’m having the same issue others have reported. The Dismiss button doesn’t work when a text message pops up Ms sometimes it actually sends one of the suggested responses. I turned phone and watch off and also unpaired and repaired them as suggested, but the dismiss button still doesn’t work properly.
