Textedit problem with macOS Monterey

On 4/13/22, I upgraded my Mojave software to Monterey 12.3.1 and have had some problems since then. One of them has been with Textedit. When I click on Textedit now, instead of opening a new document it gives me this. (below) I can then click on New Document for a new document but I have never had this happen before. Isn't there a way to click on Textedit and have it open a new document and by pass this? Thanks, Martha

Yes.

Open System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Drive. Then press the "Options…" button. Uncheck TextEdit.
