Phantom displays

My macbook shows that I have five displays but I only have two connected (plus the macbook air built-in monitor that is the primary). How do I delete the phantom displays? It is a problem because each time I boot up, the displays are in a different order such that they have to be rearranged in order to keep track of the mouse icon.

Hey there, js44043!

Thanks so much for using Apple Support Communities.

This is definitely unexpected. Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if they show up there as well? If not, let's give that a shot: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

If it doesn't help, we'd also recommend resetting the NVRAM on your Mac. This won't erase your data or anything like that and is super easy to perform: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

We hope that this information is helpful.

Have a great day!
