Calls to my iPhone come up with a wrong area code

My area code is 01501 but any calls to my iPhone from this area come up as Sheffield, I almost didn’t take a call from my GP. Is this an iPhone issue or my phone provider?

My recent calls never show the number though. This makes it appear every incoming call is spam; I answer only if I’m expecting a call. The Apple store and my carrier were equally unhelpful as both pointed the finger at the other. Caller ID on iPhone 12 does not match actual call Is anyone having similar issues. I have only had the phone for a month or so, and recently realized that the caller ID was not matching the area code. When I look at the "calls received" tab, the location is identified correctly. I went to the carrier store for a fix, and they couldn't help.

International calling I have been trying to call someone in Mexico and the call does go through and it rings over 5 times but right when I am about to leave a voice message the call is dropped automatically. Does that mean I have been blocked?

Under Settings > Phone, is International Assist turned on? If so, turn if off and see if that makes a difference.
