Keyboard repair on MacBook Pro, 15-in., 2017

I stopped by Micro Center (directed there by Apple's website), to see about getting my 'e' key fixed. And they quoted me—brace yourself!—$700-$800 to fix it. What the actual crap?! This Mac is my first and will now be my last Apple product. That is absolute, certifiable insanity to expect customers to pay that much when one itty bitty piece of plastic falls off. I am infuriated! Has anyone else experienced this?! And on a model that Apple themselves admits has a faulty keyboard!
