No iTunes in Big Sur to restore iPhone 6plus. Help!

and tells me to connect to iTunes. Have Big Sur on desktop and this only has Apple Music, no iTunes.

The device isn't too old. See If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Thank you Niel. Unfortunately I tried that and a software update was downloaded to the iMac but the iMac failed to install the update onto the iPhone. Error message 0665.0000 came up.

I suspect it is because my iPhone 6 Plus is too old to integrate with the latest software.

Still exasperating that it suddenly refused to work any more with no warning ...

Would be grateful for any inspiration.
