Mechanical issue with an iMac
I have an 27" iMac.. the gear that holds the monitor in a vertical position has failed. Can anyone suggest a repair facility in the San Diego area that can address this issue?

FWIW the iMac must be complete disassemble in order to replace the torsion spring.
Best bet, is to check with your local Apple Store or AASP to see if they have or can get the part to fix it.

"Simple solution: A rubber crutch tip placed between the monitor and the
stand holds the monitor position securely and can be very easily
adjusted in about 5 seconds. Cost: $0.29."

I used an old chunk of dense foam. Seat cushion foam to be exact. Cut to fit with the angle I preferred.
Thanks. HAs anyone attempted to replace the gear mechanism??
Nice find Mal-S, thank for sharing that gadget.
