iPhone trade in with display screen showing vertical lines

I would like to know if I can trade my iPhone XR as the display screen starts to show faint green vertical lines when switched on. However, the screen is perfectly intact with no cracks or scratches, the camera and touch screen work perfectly well. I would like to inquire whether my phone is eligible for a full trade in credit dispite the display issue?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

It won't have full trade in value unless everything is working properly. They'll probably run a standard diagnostic test to see if everything is in good working shape. If the issue is just the display, it should have the same trade-in value as if there's physical damage to the glass. However, sometimes lines showing up are a result of a malfunction on the board, in which case the trade-in value will go to zero.

I used the United States trade-in estimator for an iPhone XR, and full value is $190, but with anything where the screen isn't working it goes down to $65. The difference is less than the cost of replacing the screen, but still there wouldn't be much value left.

I agree that if there's anything that looks unusual, that will bring down the trade-in value. The reason for Apple to pay for trade-ins is such that they can take those in and provide replacement devices when someone comes in with an issue. Perhaps some of those might be fixed (or at least working parts reused) and turned into replacements, but they'll also use trade-ins to produce the replacements. And think of whether you would consider this acceptable if you were supposed to have a working device and there was this little thing about the display that annoyed you.

Thank you for your response.

There is no issue with the touch screen and its working perfectly well. The display isn't crazy either. Its just that when I turn on the screen, I see a few faint greenish white lines on the display. Hopefully, as you mentioned I should be able to get a full trade-in value as the screen is not damaged (fingers-crossed).
