iPhone has numbers in parenthesis after it in finder

Hi everyone.

I have just one iPhone and for years I've been connecting it to my Mac and it always showed up in Finder simply as 'iPhone'. The other day I connected it and it showed up as 'iPhone (108)'. Today I connected it and it showed up as 'iPhone (153).

Does anyone know what these numbers mean or why they have suddenly started appearing?

Thanks.

The device name will increment if you have several of the same devices to distinguish them from one another. I've heard that the incrementing issue is somewhat related to the router, especially if you have several networks, but an official fix is yet to be issued. For now, uniquely changing the device name should stop any incrementing.

To change your iPhone name-

  1. Go to Settings > General > About > Name.
  2. Tap the X, enter a new name, then tap Done.

Hope that helped!

Unlike some Android devices, contacts are neither stored locally on an iPhone nor in SIM. They are synced to an email account that you had Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

If Contacts on iCloud, try this --> Restore contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and more using ...

Else Add the email account that stores your contacts in the IOS mail app and enable Contacts. If you have a corporate email account added through a profile on your device, please check with your organisation's system administrator.
