What monitor and how is it connected to your iMac?


A few things to try,

  1. Restart the iMac
  2. Unplug/replug the monitor.
  3. Try a different port on the iMac.
  4. Try a different different adapter and cable.
  5. By pass any hubs or docks if you are using either.
