Getting a missing plugin and red screen after exporting batch to compressor. This was after updating new compressor. Does anyone know a solution or what the plugin is? DId the new video formats include sony a7siii?

My i9 iMac was 11.6.4 all working fine...my new MacBook M1 is 12.4 now, so I wanted to update the iMac to 12.4 as well to keep it all the same....did an update of the OS to 12.4 and Compressor gives me the exact same error. I had other weird permission things on my external drive (folder I have always used on a Promise Raid for export, locked in Compressor, but I can access it in the OS just fine) and I have had a few other weird issues...so I decided to Reinstall the OS from Recovery...I originally had hoped to go back to 11.6.4 but no joy there...so I updated the OS from Recovery...on first glance, all was working great...I was able to send a batch from FCP (latest) and it worked. This morning I repeated the test as I am working on a new project and I get the missing plugin message in Compressor. I export the file to my desktop then drop it in compressor to apply my custom settings and it works fine. This is only an issue when sending a batch from FCP.

Any ideas? Is fixing permission on the boot volume still a thing?

Jumping into this discussion as I have the same issue...

Mac is on Monterey 12.3.1

FCP is on 10.6.2

Compressor is 4.6.1

I'm not sure which Pro Video Formats version I am on but I have recently updated, so assume it's 2.2.3

Send to Compressor from FCP inevitably leads to a Missing Plugin message.

Sharing from FCP works fine.

I have tested via the same hard drive on a laptop, which worked (although that laptop is freaking out in other ways, with compressor refusing to open, so perhaps the same problem is showing up in a different way?)

The media on this particular library and project is all from a Sony FS700 - other projects on the same drive have Black Magic derived footage (but transcoded to ProRes) and GH5 footage too.

I think it's a drive issue, as opening one of the same projects on a backup hard drive doesn't cause the same issue.

Any thoughts, or just...back up and move on?!

Thanks,

Josh

This happened to me today, too, after updating Compressor. It was a complete mystery because I didn't run any plugins or filters on the video in FCP. Not even a transition. Just a straight-up trim off the beginning, added a lower third, pushed it to Compressor, and got a tiny file with nothing but the red "missing plugin" error. I ended up just sharing out of FCP -- using the exact same export profile -- and it was fine.

I just chalked it up to Compressor continuing to be a hot mess of errors, stalled processing, and other odd behavior.
