I have just upgraded from Sierra to Monterey. My images in Lightroom 6 now have a white band covering the top of the image with the metadata details and image number in the white band

You can't install LR 6.14 under Monterey because the installer isn't 64-bit. If it is already installed in Mojave or earlier, it may still run but some components might not work.
I run LR 6.14 and a few old 32-bit apps from an external Mojave volume while my main disk is Monterey.

I was asking if you are running the latest version. Lightroom CC 2015 (version 6) was released 7 years ago. There have been multiple updates since.
I am still on LR 6 not LR CC but the whole reason I am upgrading to Monterey is so that I can download LR CC. Unfortunately in the upgrade to Monterey, I have experienced problems with my existing LR 6 ie in the Develop mode , the upper part of the images has a white band with the image number and metadata in the white band on the left upper corner ie the upper sixth of the image has a white band
