Airpod setup button is broken. What do I do?

A family member thought my airpods were someone else’s and threw them out in the street. A car ran over the case. I stopped using them and got new ones. I want to start using them again but I can’t connect them to a device. The airpods are fine but the case is messed up. I’m able to press the button but the light doesn’t flash like it usually does when you connect airpods to a device.
