Multiple display resolution with Studio Ultra

I have a Studio Ultra with a Studio monitor but want more screen real estate. I'm considering a LG UltraFine Ergo or Dell Ultrasharp. Stating the obvious, these screens have different spec.

My question is, can the Mac Studio deliver full resolution (5K and 4K) to both displays or does it have to reduce the feed to the lowest spec screen that is attached?

Many thanks.

In Extended Desktop Mode, you can choose a different resolution for each display.

In Mirroring Mode, the macOS tries to select the optimal resolution for both displays.

see the last half of > Use one or more external displays with your Mac - Apple Support

Set up the displays as an extended desktop

You can arrange your displays in any configuration to create an extended desktop. For example, you can set your external display side by side with your Mac to create one large continuous desktop.

Note: You must be connected to a display to see these options.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Displays , then click Display Settings.
  2. Click the name of your display, then choose Extend Display from the pop-up menu.

Set up the displays for video mirroring

Video mirroring shows the entire desktop on each display.

Note: You must be connected to a display to see these options.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Displays , then click Display Settings.
  2. Select your display, then choose Mirror for Display from the pop-up menu.

The arrangement pane appears when you have multiple displays. A blue icon proportional to the size (in pixels) of EACH display will be shown.

This illustrates Mirrored displays:

Not that the TWO display Icons are nearly coincident, different by only enough to drag them apart if desired.

A computed "common" resolution is used, and the displays are forced into perfect Sync with each other.
