Apple Music on PS5 (Playstation) with child AppleID

It describes a problem were children below the age of 13 can not log in to Apple Music on their PS5.

I had the same problem;

  • My son, younger than 13 (at that time), got an error while trying to log into Apple Music on the PS5 app;
  • This error occurred because he was 12 years old, so I told him to wait until he turned 13;
  • After turning 13 he tried again, but still got the error;
  • Reinstalling the Apple Music app from the PS5 and trying again, did not solve this.

I found out that reinstalling the Apple Music app is not enough to get rid of the error. The authorization process seems to also sets cookies and/or temp internet files. So even after turning 13 and reinstalling the app, the problem persists because of the cookies/temp internet files.

Solution;

  • Wait until the child turns 13 (of course);
  • Delete the Apple Music app;
  • Delete the cookies (settings -> system -> Web Browser -> delete cookies);
  • Delete Temp internet files (settings -> system -> Web Browser -> Clear Website data);
  • Restart PS5, reinstall Apple Music app and log in with AppleID of child

Hope this helps, and saves you people the time and frustration it took me to figure this out.
