App store crashing issues

New information: Launching the App Store App in Portrait screen orientation allows the App to launch.

Please ensure that you include details of both your installed version of iPadOS and your iPad model in the body text of your report - and not solely rely upon the model and OS pick-list when submitting your Bug Report.

I have no idea why, but I have discovered that it is the Today tab/view, to which the App Store App will launch, that causes the App to immediately crash/close.

There is a workaround…

Open a link to an App Store App - like this one:

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/windy-com/id116138726

The App Store App should now launch. On the bottom bar, choose any tab/view other than Today - as the Today view will crash the App. Other views, including Search, should be okay.

Thanks! Restarting in Portrait mode, allowed my Ipad Pro 4th gen, o/s 15.4.1 to finally open up the app store! I submitted a bug report.

I’m not on an M1 iPad.

Having the same problem BUT

• if I switch to Portrait mode (as suggested above), prior to opening: App Store does launch
• Today mode does work - it opens in TODAY mode. No need to use link to store as “back door”

So, after working all morning - until a few minutes ago - this problem now manifests itself on my 2021 12.9. The portrait mode workaround does work for me.

You’re not alone.

While Apple’s System Status page currently shows no issue with the App Store, there is likely to be a back-end problem that will either be rapidly fixed - or a change of status will shortly appear and confirm an ongoing issue.

For now, you have no alternative other than to wait.

Further supporting the working hypothesis that something (!) is steadily rolling-out across Apple’s regional server infrastructure.

Having tested a number of iPad and iPhone devices to which I have immediate access, the issue only appears to affect the iPad Pro M1 models; for other devices, the App Store is still fully functional.

DNS has been eliminated as a potential source of difficulties.

Side note: link to apple store has to be for an app available in your country, tried your link but it crashed every time, but it lasted long enough to see the “not available” pop up. Went and tried an app I knew was in Canada and it work just like you said!

The issue appears now to have been resolved by Apple.

Intriguing. This might suggest that only some regional App Store servers are currently impacted.
