App store crashing issues

Hello,


The app store on my M1 iPad Pro 12.9 is crashing instantly when trying to open. Just started to happen. Restarting the iPad didn't help. The bug only happens when i'm opening regularly, with the 'Today' tab, but when i open it with the search option it works just fine and all rest of the tabs works. Is this happening with anyone else and is there a way to fix it?

You’re not alone.


While Apple’s System Status page currently shows no issue with the App Store, there is likely to be a back-end problem that will either be rapidly fixed - or a change of status will shortly appear and confirm an ongoing issue.


Apple - Support - System Status


For now, you have no alternative other than to wait.

I have no idea why, but I have discovered that it is the Today tab/view, to which the App Store App will launch, that causes the App to immediately crash/close.


There is a workaround…


Open a link to an App Store App - like this one:

https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/windy-com/id116138726


The App Store App should now launch. On the bottom bar, choose any tab/view other than Today - as the Today view will crash the App. Other views, including Search, should be okay.

New information: Launching the App Store App in Portrait screen orientation allows the App to launch.

Please ensure that you include details of both your installed version of iPadOS and your iPad model in the body text of your report - and not solely rely upon the model and OS pick-list when submitting your Bug Report.

Thanks a bunch for the work around! FYI this was happening on my iPad Pro 2nd Gen 15.4.1


Side note: link to apple store has to be for an app available in your country, tried your link but it crashed every time, but it lasted long enough to see the “not available” pop up. Went and tried an app I knew was in Canada and it work just like you said!
