Dictation ding-dong tone OFF switch??

How to turn off the annoying ding-dong noise of the dictation microphone?

there Is a post on this but it doesn’t work and it’s old. The advice was to touch the microphone and then lower the volume slider. Unfortunately when you touch the microphone it immediately ding-dongs and turns on dictation. Holding it down does the same. Occasionally it will present settings but they disappear after a flash. By using two fingers it is sometimes possible to access the keyboard settings this way but there’s no volume adjustment for the ding-dong.

I have the phone volume turned off .

Hi Digital Finger,

Wondering if you can use a "mute" setting somewhere .... if volume off doesn't work.

Or

Apple support have articles online that may or may not help:

Or

https://www.ipadforums.net/threads/turn-off-voice-dictation-sound.82551/

says:

1. Hit the dictation icon, but don't talk

2. Using volume up/down physical switch on the iPad/iPhone, lower the volume to off.

3. Hit the dictation icon again.

4. Test if the beep goes away.

Another suggestion I came across said "Turn off Siri" (microphone icon) ... worked for dictation sound while texting.
