US gifted Apple watch series 7 working in India.

If someone has gifted me an apple watch from the US, its functioning would be accessible in India too right? Would there be any functioning prohibitions?

Yes,if it is a cellular watch then the cellular function won't work,the watch will function as if it is a GPS only watch.

Also the watch's warranty would only be good in the US.
