week numbering in the calendar on my iphone is wrong. Skewed by one week. The week starting 2022-07-11 should be week no. 28, but according to thw iphone calendar, it is week 29. please fix

This explains it. Changing the region to Europe fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!
(PS It didnt matter which day the week was set to start in the calendar settings. This was already defined to be Monday according to the european system, without having an effect on the week numbering).

The phone uses week numbering based on the setting for Language & Region. That means there is a one week difference between how the US numbers weeks and most of the rest of the world.

We're happy to assist with your iPhone Calendar app. If you go to Settings > Calendar, you should see a setting for "Start Week On". Which day is this currently set to? This may affect the numbering system for your Week Numbers setting.
