Printer Paused - Epson ET-3850 Printer Issues w/ MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro running macOS 12.3.1

My old HP Envy printer did not work with since the newest Mac OS update. It kept giving me the “paused” printing message.

I called Apple support and we did a bunch of super technical stuff, but it still did not fix anything.

I bought the new Epson ET-3850 printer thinking it would fix the issue. Sadly, I have am having the same issue.

I have deleted the printer, uninstalled the printer driver and reinstalled them, and reset the the printer system. Also, the printer and my MacBook are on the same Wi-Fi.

Pro: With the new printer I can print through emailing the document to the printer and printing it that way, from my cell phone, and through the app.

I just not from my MacBook (Control + P).

I can delete the printer and reinstall it and then it might let me print one or two items, but then it gives me the paused printer message. I try and resume it or add it to the printer queue, but that does not work.

I think it has to do with the macOS 12.3.1 software.

I have tried everything and nothing is working!!!!

Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix???

Thanks in advance if you give me some helpful hints or a solution.

Hi,

The Epson ET-3850 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support as a model with support for the driverless AirPrint technology. This means that it should be possible to use the model in question without additional drivers, provided that the printer and the computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). Did you try AirPrint (without installing drivers from the printer manufacturer)?

If all settings are OK, and If there are difficulties with AirPrint, you could try the following procedure:

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, the computer, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the computer. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.
