transfer sensitive data to new imac

I hope to buy a new desktop 2 questions, please if you can help

1) I understand that my desktop will have backed up to icloud and I can use that to transfer most data, but I have 2 photo albums, compiled but not printed, on my *existing* iMac, and dont want to lose them during any transfer. How to ensure the 2 albums are secured,

2) I have a Western Digital HD which has ceased to communicate with my iMac during a former IOS update; can this be set to a NEW iMac?

My recommendation is to return the iMac and buy one with at least 1 TB of SSD storage. If you bought the computer from Apple, then you have 14 days to return it for any reason. If you purchased from a reseller, you need to work within their sales policies. Going forward NEVER EVER buy a computer based on price, buy based on your needs. Long after the money is spent your thoughts are not on how much you paid but with the experience you are having with the device.

If for some reason you cannot return the machine you bought then you will have to migrate manually and buy external storage to save large libraries such as photos, music and movies onto.
