Applecare

I purchased an MacBook Pro from someone new out of the box. The person did not indicate how long they’ve had the item. After receiving the MacBook I try purchasing applecare+. After putting in the serial number, it then said my item is not eligible for applecare+. I need help I can not have this MacBook without some kind of security.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.1
