Why does my iPhone ring only Once?

After one ring, phone stops ringing, goes silent or volume becomes almost unbearable. Often I don’t see it and so calls go unanswered

Let’s start off with learning more about your setup and making sure we’ve covered all the basics.

Do you have an Apple Watch paired with your iPhone? This is important as those incoming call notifications can be silenced there as well.

You mentioned the volume becomes unbearable, does that mean it gets very loud?

Please be sure that -

Your device has been restarted, then test the situation by calling your iPhone from another device
In Settings > Notifications > Phone things are set to how you want them for the app
In Settings > Focus, no Focus is currently enabled
Your iPhone is running iOS 15.4.1 from Settings > General > Software Update
