System Crash macOS 12.3.1 MacBookPro Mid 2015

Periodically I have a system crash where the screen goes black. I don't know if I have a hardware problem or software. I have the original APPLE SSD SD0256F 256GB. The laptop is about 7 years old and I could replace the SSD but all tests show it still works and has no errors.

The Unix Man page:

NAME

lsd

DESCRIPTION

lsd provides various services for CoreServices frameworks. It is not meant to be invoked directly and it must

not be terminated.

Then you have a path listed which is /var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/0/com.apple.LaunchServices.dv/com.apple.LaunchServices-3027-v2.csstore

This is some kind of protected system cache, I can't even list the folder name "com.apple.LaunchServices.dv" let alone it's contents. I would try a Safe Mode Boot as that does clear caches. Shutdown all the way, hold Shift while powering on. Only let go of Shift to login then start holding Shift again all the way till you get to the Desktop. You might have to login twice if the Mac is encrypted with FileVault. Then give it 2-3 minutes and perform a full shutdown. Then boot normally.

If the crashes keep occurring, you should backup your data and preform a clean installation of macOS Monterey. I would create a USB flash drive 16GB+ and hold Option while booting and boot off the flash drive then erase the internal SSD and re-install macOS Monterey. Then restore only your data and manually re-install configure your software.

Granted, it's 7 years old and likely won't be supported by the next macOS release expected to be announced at WWDC on June 6th, 2022. It's time to start looking for a new Mac.
