Video created in OBS will slow down and eventually crash FCPX

Below you can see how I configured OBS to create my videos. I use it to create videos like the ones you can watch here: instagram.com/marcos.bacon

I already cleared the FCPX preferences. It gets better for a while, starts slowing down and crashes again. Are there better configs on OBS for further editing on FCPX?

Which Mac, macOS version and FCP version are you running? Please run https://etrecheck.com after giving it Full Disk Access in System Preferences and post the report using the "Additional text" button below in your reply.

Does this problem happen only with footage recorded by OBS?

Please post the output from mediainfo, invisor or ffprobe of an OBS recording that causes FCP to become unhappy.

In a brief search on OBS and the VT Hardware encoder, it says it creates variable bit rate files. Have you tried Optimizing the footage? This will create a ProRes422 file that might correct something strange in the original encoding. Make sure you have sufficient disk space because ProRes files can be quite large.

mediainfo - on AppStore

Invisor - on AppStore

ffprobe (included in free and open source ffmpeg) - https://ffmpeg.org

Since it's only happening with OBS generated footage, I'd try transcoding with Compressor if you have it. ffmpeg is also a great tool, but you'll need to enter commands in Terminal.app. I was able to solve another FCP user's problem with dashcam footage that didn't play properly in Monterey with a simple one liner to re-encode:

ffmpeg -i badfile.mp4 outputgoodfile.mp4

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

OS 10.15.7

FCPX 10.4.9

It does only happen with footage recorded by OBS.

How do I get the output from "mediainfo, invisor or ffprobe"?

I really can't work with optimized media in my mac, as it takes too much space.

Thank you!

If this doesn't help I'll try also using the paid apps.
