Word for Mac: Command-f does not populate highlighted text

In all versions of word that I've used for many years, highlighting text, then pressing Control F opens the search box with the highlighted text in the search box.

On the Mac with Word from office 365, the highlighted text doesn’t show up in the search box. Highlighting text and pressing Command F opens the search box but does Not put the highlighted text in the search box. I have to type it, or cut and paste it. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks
