system updates for a new MacBook Pro

hi guys. Is it a good idea not to update the system of the new MacBook?

I have a new one and it keeps sending me a notification "Updates Available. Do you want to restart to install these"? I don't install updates on my iPhone XS as I don't want to get glitches to make it slow overtime and thus I'd have to buy a new one. That what happened to my previous iPhone, it became slow. My XS works absolutely fine without updates to it's system

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.2

You mention that it's going to make your computer slower over time - with Macs, it is possible to downgrade the operating system at this present time: https://www.macworld.com/article/671318/how-to-downgrade-macos-monterey-to-big-sur-or-older.html.

Hence, if you update to a newer version, and it's too slow for some reason, you can downgrade.
