How use Macbook Air + Mac Mini interchangeably?

Hi all,

I have a Mac Mini that I use as my main (work) computer and have just bought a Macbook Air M1 (2020). I want to keep doing all my main work on the Mac Mini, but use the Macbook for work on the go. So what I would like to do is find a workable way to completely mirror/clone (not sure what the correct term is) the two devices so that I can essentially use them interchangeably. I use Time Machine for the Mac Mini. Hope you have some suggestions. Thank you in advance!

Enable iCloud Drive, and desktop and documents on both machines. (System preferences > Apple ID > iCloud. That will keep anything in those locations in sync between devices.

In terms of apps, that will be pretty much a manual thing.

However, in SystemPreferences->AppleID, select all the items that you want shared between the Macs.

Then select iCloud Drive Options... and enable "Desktop & Documents Folders". You can also select

apps that you want their data shared between devices.

Finally, for all other items, you can simply set up folders in iCloud Drive and they will be available on all devices.
