On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Go to the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap iCloud.
4. Turn on Messages.
If you're referring to using your Apple ID with iMessage, you'll want to go to Settings > Messages and turn on iMessage.
