Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I traded in my iPhone XR for a 13 pro max, everything transferred over properly except for my photo albums. None of my albums are there and all of the photos that I had in albums are now erased out of my general photos. How do I get these back? Thanks!

Nope. Photos are generally housed somewhere else, much the same as music. So an iPhone should never be the primary housing source for this type of data, and it is not captured on iOS backups.

Here’s one option. There are many others.
So where should they be housed that they don’t get lost and why do they even have an option to set up albums if they’re going to get deleted considering my photos in albums are the most important photos out of all my general photos which I have now lost but my general photos which really aren’t that big of a deal to me I still have
Where might those photo albums have been housed?
I guess in my phone just whenever you take a photo you scroll down to “add to album”and then I put it in any one of my custom-named photo albums. I figured they were getting backed up in the cloud
