MacBook Pro M1 Pro/M1 Max

Hello Everyone, Hope You All are Safe and Well. I’ve been confused about which MacBook Pro to get.

I’ve been using an Early 2011 15 in MacBook Pro (11 Years Old). I had put in 16 GB RAM/a 500 some GB SSD in 2017. Since January, there have been many issues. I make YouTube videos, which are mostly on Travel/Lifestyle. I will be making all newer videos in 1920x1080 60fps (progressive), and may try 4K in the Future. I will not be color grading, I will be shooting on automatic modes, and will be using Final Cut Pro. I also would like do have Drone Shots, as well as Time Lapse video. I will mostly be uploading at least 4-5 Videos or so a Week (I have lots of pending videos for my channel as well). I have been confused about the best MacBook computer to get. I would like the laptop to last me at least 10 or more Years.

I have narrowed my choices to the following (All 16 in):

M1 Pro (32 GB) 1 TB SSD (16 Core)

M1 Max (32 GB) 1 TB SSD (24 Core)

M1 Max (32 GB) 1 TB SSD (32 Core)

Which out of the 3 would be best for what All I need to do? I have some idea, but want to make sure. The price difference between the 16 core and 24 core MacBook Pros will only be $180, so I’m not even sure if I should still consider the 16 core. The 32 core may be too much unused Power at a higher price. This is a bit confusing.

All the Best!

Thank You!

It seems to me you posted this very question a couple days ago and you got some responses from the community, correct?

In fact, I believe I suggested you go out to YouTube and watch any of the vast amount of videos on this very subject.

We can't tell you exactly what you need. From my perch, people are often buying more than they need and finding, they could have done everything they want and then some with less specked out machines.

Based on what you've posted, it would seem the 1TB 16 core machine would likely meet all your needs. And you'd have a battery which lasts longer and runs cooler.

Do note there are significant delays in custom MacBook Pros these days. The Zero Covid Tolerance lockdowns in China have completely shuttered the very facilities these machines are manufactured in and it has been so, for several weeks now. You will likely be looking at Late June early July as the earliest delivery dates for a custom device.
